So Florida has state laws in place saying that counties can't override state laws and put in their own no guns allowed laws.
I guess Broward and Palm beach are organizing to repeal these state laws so that they can ban guns in certain areas. The article is just a plethora of quotes by people who don't get it, including the author.
Seeking the authority to regulate firearms in parks and government buildings, Fort Lauderdale and Broward County have joined the fight to bring down one of the state's most baffling gun laws.
Why is it baffling? Is it baffling when the Federal Government stops states from overriding federal laws? If not, then it shouldnt be so confusing that counties can't do it to the state. Fall asleep in civics class did we?
Neutering all existing local firearms laws created awkward ramifications. It's now permissible to bring a semi-automatic weapon to a Fort Lauderdale family parade, though illegal to bring a knife.
I am not even sure what the knife part is doing there. I have a concealed weapons license. which means I have both my gun and my knife at the family parade. But this is besides the issue. Why did this guy say family parade? Does he want to incite more hate for my gun because i have it at a parade? I am a law abiding citizen, the gun poses no danger to anyone anywhere except criminals with guns trying to hurt me or my family or you or your family. Are you saying that you want no one to protect you at family parades? or are you just certain that criminals will refuse to hurt people at family parades. Seriously? ( i googled it...i can't find any instances of someone getting shot at a family parade in florida )
Rep. Mark Pafford, D-West Palm Beach, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "It's outrageous that the state would intervene in local business at that level."
Mark...I know you are an elected government official, but I am forced to ask. Do you have any idea how government works? Federal beats state, state beats county, county beats city, etc etc. pretty basic stuff here.
Freshman Rep. Bobby Powell, D-Riviera Beach: "We’re not saying people shouldn’t have guns," Powell told the Post. "What I am saying is that, in certain places, guns should not be allowed."
What you are saying is that you don't understand what should be the most simple thing to understand. You can't stop people from bringing guns. All you can do is stop GOOD people from bringing guns. When are these retards going to get this through their heads. It's exhausting trying to explain it to them.
Rep. Jim Waldman (D-Coconut Creek): "I do think it's a debate that the time is here, it's now," Waldman said. "We ought to discuss it. Certainly Newtown brought it to the forefront."
Why? Is Newtown in Florida?
Brace yourselves Floridians...now they are coming for you too.
