Toaster Pastry Gun Freedom Act; Protecting kids from overzealous teachers

“Last week, a Maryland boy nibbled his strawberry, pre-baked toaster pastry into the shape of a gun while at school. Naturally, the public school officials at Park Elementary School in Brooklyn Park freaked out when they noticed the Pop-Tart gun and suspended the boy for two days.”

It sucks that we have supped to this level that a senator has to create a bill. Sen. J.B. Jennings (R-Baltimore) has introduced Senate Bill 1058: ‘The Reasonable School Discipline Act of 2013’

Do it really punish the kid, how is a 7 year old punished by getting two days off ?

this is what happens when you don't have a CCW permit for your pop tart!

Take it one step further.

From the story posted on NBC News: The school sent home a letter to parents saying, "During breakfast this morning, one of our students used food to make inappropriate gestures that disrupted the class. While no physical threats were made and no one was harmed, the student had to be removed from the classroom."

Parents should talk to their children if they're troubled by the incident, the school said, and the school counselor will be available for any student who needs to talk.

How ridicules If I were the principal and a teacher brought the Pop-Tart to me, I would have eaten it and look straight in the eyes of the teacher and said, "What Pop-Tart, you must be hallucinating, I think a drug test is in order".
