77-year-old grandmother opens fire, stops intruder (Georgia)

Resource: http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/woman-77-shoots-would-be-burglar/nTN58/
Rita James was at home Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia when a man threw a brick through her window.

Startled by the noise, Rita grabbed the handgun she keeps for self defense and went to see what was going on. She came across a man clearing the glass shards from the window as he tried to crawl into the house. Rita said it best:

And I shot at him. I shot twice. And he wasn't in no big hurry about leaving, but he left. I don't try to talk to nobody breaking in. He didn't have no business back there by my window.

Rita is unsure if she struck the man and he did manage to flee the scene.

In a nice twist, Atlanta PD told Rita she did exactly the right thing in defending herself. That sure is a better reaction that the San Jose Police had after a jewelry store owner stopped an armed robber.

What was Rita's biggest complaint? That she has to fix the window.
