Houston, Texas police responded to a call late on the night of January 9th to the Tidwell Apartments. When officers arrived they found a man in his early 20's with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The wounded man was transported to the hospital where he died.
It seems the man who was shot was staying with the tenant of the apartment. At some point, he started choking the tenant's dog. As the tenant went to stop him, he attacked the tenant.
Under attack by a man who had already attacked his dog, the tenant drew his gun and fired a single shot.
Police questioned the tenant and released him.
When we saw this story about a Florida man shooting someone who was choking his dog I thought it was one of the strangest headlines I'd see. Now we've seen it twice in a month. Is there a new dog choking epidemic or what?
