The ex-boyfriend had lived in the trailer briefly before a series of fights caused the the woman to throw him out. The ex-boyfriend continued to harass the woman by phone and in person. Just last week he broke her sliding glass door and chased after her to the bedroom where he pulled a gun on her. Of course, this is Texas, so she pulled a gun on him as well and he fled.
Back to early Thursday morning, as the neighbor went outside he found the ex-boyfriend holding a baseball bat and the windows on the truck destroyed. He asked, "What are you doing here?"
The ex-boyfriend's reply was to tell the man "None of your business," and to advance on the neighbor while holding his baseball bat.
The neighbor warned the bat wielding ex to stay back and stop approaching. He didn't stop, continuing to approach the shotgun wielding neighbor.
The neighbor fired a single shot, fatally wounding the man.
Trailer park owner Walker Chapman is thankful the woman was not home. Chapman was also thankful the neighbor had his shotgun, "It's good that he had it," Chapman said. "There's no telling what could have happened had he not had a gun."
