Groupon Sides With Gun Grabbers

Resource: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/22/groupon-gun-deals_n_2527168.html
Groupon has stopped offering coupons or honoring previous arrangements with gun based businesses ie gun ranges and ccw classes. They said they had been getting pressure even before Sandy Hook but that apparently it was the turning point.

Gun control proponents applauded the decision. "We, along with other groups, had been applying pressure to Groupon for some time now because we were disturbed by the flippant nature of previous gun deals," said Ladd Everritt, director of communications at The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit.

I love this part:

Groupon told HuffPost that its move was not politically motivated. In an emailed statement, Mossler said the deal site's categories and inventory "evolve with consumer and merchant sentiment" and the "change to our inventory is not a statement against these small businesses."

How is that not political?

Anyways yeah. I won't ever use Groupon again.

Editorial: I am not even remotely kidding here. If I had never fired a gun...even if i was a gun grabber...even if groupon said they wouldnt honor coupons with gun grabbers...i would still not use groupon ever again because they are cowards that dropped half their userbase on a polarized issue. The issue isnt even the issue.

It actually all started here in Austin, Texas with this story.

The irony of this is that Groupon is failing as a company and their deals are typically a disaster for the businesses that are featured. Ranges are an ideal business for Groupon because it costs the range nothing to add people and the exposure can often bring in new clients to shooting. Essentially the perfect match for this type of marketing. If Groupon had come out strong for RKBA, they may have saved their business model instead of this long, slow flushing of money down the toilet they are doing.
