A Texas Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holder is a hero today after carrying her handgun for the first time. The woman, who has requested anonymity, has had her permit for three years but never carried before Saturday.
"As I’m about to walk out of the house, something just told me, 'You might want to carry the gun tonight,'" the woman said.
While she was at the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) train station that night, so was Jamail Koroma. Koroma gave the CHL holder and another woman, Kim Lanphere a bad feeling. That feeling turned out to be right.
"I felt him change his gait, and at the time I had by bag here [by her side]," Kim said, "and I put it on my shoulder, just to hold it safe." Koroma then pulled a gun and told Kim to give him her bag or he would shoot her.
That's when the CHL holder stepped in. "When he said, 'I’ll shoot you,' then it was, we’re in real danger right now," she said. "I just pulled my gun and said, 'Drop it.'"
Koroma fled the scene but was apprehended by Dallas PD and found to be carrying a BB gun. No wonder he hauled ass away.
As for the CHL holder hero... she says she'll be carrying regularly now.
