This amendment states that people have the right to certain weapons, provided they register them and have not been in prison...
Add to the text the small cartoon next to the re-written amendment that mocks gun owners for keeping guns for self protection and you have a great piece of gun control propaganda. One child in the classroom caught it for what it was and brought the assignment to his fathers attention.
The father told reporters, "My son was given a workbook at school that is a compilation of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. When they covered the 2nd Amendment, he saw that they were stating that only 'certain guns' could be owned and that they had to be 'registered,' which he knew was false. He bought this to my attention as he felt it was wrong to teach these things that aren't true. I'm extremely proud of my son for his actions." Despite raising his concerns to school officials, the parent was told that the workbook will likely stay in circulation for the foreseeable future.
Of course, this isn't the first attempt to redefine the Second Amendment in textbooks. There was the widely adopted Common Core bookthat redefined the amendment to say "The people have a right to keep and bear arms in a state militia.". And of course there was the Arkansas 6th grade class assigned to revise and re-write the Bill of Rights while "pruning" one or two amendments from it.
Don't you feel better educated knowing that you only have the rights to certain weapons as long as you register them?
