An Easley, South Carolina home was the scene of a shootout early Thursday morning (July 3rd).
Orlandous Brown, who suffers from cerebral palsy and is wheelchair-bound, came home with his friend Latisha Vernon and Latisha's 17-year-old daughter. Orlandous entered his home and encountered an armed intruder in the process of stealing from him.
Orlandous drew his handgun and a full-blown shootout ensued.
Latisha and her daughter fled the home and called 911. As deputies arrived, they found the women in the driveway. After moving them to a safe distance, deputies entered the home.
They found Orlandous wounded from a single round and the found 26-year-old Darin Lowe, the intruder, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Orlandous was transported by ambulance to the local hospital where he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Police believe Orlandous may have been targeted because he's disabled and the dead intruder may have believed he had an easy target.
