The Comal County Sheriff's Office received a call around 5:44 Saturday evening (July 12th) from a Bulverde,Texas resident saying there were four strangers on his property.
15 minutes later, with officers still not dispatched, the Sheriff's Office received another call from the resident saying he had shot three of the four trespassers.
When deputies arrived they found one man, identified as Drake Joseph Lund, dead on the scene. The other two wounded men, Sawyer Hiram Darwin and Robert Michael Bree, were transported to hospitals.
The fourth interloper on the property, identified as Rylee Carl Eklund was taken into custody on possession charges.
No charges have been filed or against the homeowner.
The Comal County Sheriff's Office has not commented about whether Eklund, 19, was the shooter. He was arrested at the scene, but for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces. He was released on $2,000 bail the same day.
Eklund had been dealing with a personal problem that weekend, and their friends wanted to check on him, she said. Eklund's parents were out of town, and they wanted to make sure he was safe after Lund received an unintelligible phone call from him, she said.
“He was worried about (Eklund),” confirmed Dan Roehrs, Lund's stepfather.
The Sheriff's Office received a call from the residence at about 5:44 p.m. that day from someone stating that there were three unknown people on the property. That call was disconnected, authorities said. Within 14 minutes, the same person called again to inform deputies that he had shot the three people, according to authorities.
