When you mix drugs, alcohol, guns, and two morons who want to make YouTube video, you're going to have a bad day.
"This in no way was my client... trying to do anything but a stupid, ridiculous prank," Flohr said. "He did the best he could to save his friend’s life."
Except for that part where he shot his friend in the chest, right?
It seems that friends of 15 years Mark Ramiro and Darnell Mitchell, while high and drunk, had started an escalating dare war. It started with dares to lick the toilet and ended with the two intoxicated and high men deciding to make a YouTube video of Ramiro shooting Mitchell while Mitchell wore a bulletproof vest.
Mitchell can be seen on tape saying he was ready to take "deuce deuce in the chest". I don't speak drunk, intoxicated thug so I don't know if even he knows what caliber he's referring to.
The problem, besides drugs, alcohol, and a gift for poor decision making, is that Ramiro missed the vest and struck Mitchell in the chest, killing him.
"It was a tragic, tragic accident between friends fueled by alcohol and drug abuse," Flohr said. "There’s no way to explain people messed up on drugs and alcohol."
That's not how the state sees it. According to Assistant State's Attorney David Chiu, "[The] motivation wasn't anger... That motivation was fame and glory on the web. That’s almost more disconcerting to the state... It was a deliberate videotaped shooting of someone by point-blank range."
What's the dumbest thing you've challenged a friend to?
