Around 4 a.m. an armed man pulled held Patel at gunpoint and ordered him to empty the register of the Shell station he was working at. Instead, Patel calmly walked over to his gun and drew on the robber.
That sent the robber running. According to Patel,
"Well he was scared when I pulled my gun. He didn’t realize that I would pull a gun. I don’t like to shoot nobody but when it comes to my life I would. And thank God I didn’t get hurt, I didn’t kill him, otherwise I would have regretted but hey, you made the choice, regrets happen."
Store owner Bhinder Singh Dhiman said,
"I'm really proud. Whatever he did I’d like if everybody started doing it that way, the robbery will be stopped, especially for convenience stores."
The suspect is believed to be involved in 5 armed robberies according to WJCL,

Then it was off to Loves on Highway 144 in Richmond Hill around 5:25 a.m. Police said the suspect showed a handgun, but the clerk refused to open the cash drawer. Finally, the suspect robbed the Parker’s on Highway 84 in Flemington just before 6 a.m.
