Edward Pettijohn was unloading a lawnmower when he noticed heavy police activity on his street. Local police were responding to reports of a vehicle burglary on the block.
"They had the pistols out and the road blocked and called my neighbor and told him we are fixing to have some trouble," said Pettijohn.
Lieutenant John Hooper of the Corpus Christi Police Department said the suspect ran when officers attempted to stop him. A footchase ensued over the next several blocks, ending with the suspect in Edward's yard.
"I saw someone jump that wire fence their and then I pulled my pistol out and aimed at him with my laser at him," said Pettijohn.
The suspect started to jump the fence in an attempt to escape but gave up when he saw police on the other side.
Edward yelled out to officers that he had the man at gunpoint and police entered the yard and placed the suspect under arrest.
