WHY I'M ARMED - Chicago Thugs with Machetes Attack Men Waiting for Train (Illinois)

You can't open carry in Chicago but you can apparently walk around swinging a machete and nobody will care. In a vicious attack seven men, including three teens, brutally attacked two brother who were simply waiting for the train.

Of course, not one police officer is around but I'm sure Mayor Rahm and Chief (drunk) of Police McCarthy are happy the two men weren't armed... you know, to keep the city safe.

According to ABC7Chicago,

A 26-year-old Jefferson Park man and his 17-year-old brother were waiting for the train shortly after midnight Monday when a group of four men and three teens approached them and asked them to flash gang signs. When the brothers refused and stated they were not part of a gang, police say 18-year-old Mario Elvira pulled out a machete and struck the 26-year-old victim in the head.

The 26-year-old remains hospitalized at Swedish Covenant Hospital in stable condition. The attack caused a gash 6 inches long and 1 1/2 inches deep, which required more than 30 stitches to close.

Police said the seven suspects - Elvira; Jean Salvatierra, 23; Kevin Ramierz, 19; Kevar Preston, 20; and two 15-year-old males and one 15-year-old female - then fled. They were apprehended by police shortly thereafter. All of the suspects are from the North side of Chicago.

According to a source, the attack continued unabated until a train pulled up and witnesses were on the scene.

While MDA, Everytown, and the Brady Campaign can pretend violence is a myth, they are simply wrong. Random violence is a daily occurence worldwide. You can choose to be an unwitting accomplice by being an easy victim or you can choose to be part of the solution.

Situational awareness, a willingness to report suspicious activity, and the tools and training needed to protect yourself can turn something like this vicious attack into one of our daily defensive gun use stories.

Do you think these thugs would have continued if the victim had drawn a concealed handgun and opened fire?
