Jan Morgan, owner of 'The Cave' - an indoor gun range in Hot Springs, Arkansas has issued notice that Muslims are banned from her shooting range.
While she recognizes that not all muslims are terrorists, she feels that she is erring on the side of caution by not letting any muslims in her place of business for fear that they may intend to do violence on other patrons of the range.
The ACLU has deemed the declaration illegal under the civil rights act.
While I understand Morgan's position I personally think her actions, illegal or not are a mistake. To me this falls in the realm of Ben Franklin's famous quote: Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
I probably wouldn't fault anyone who disagreed with me. These are troubling times and its sometimes difficult to be ethical, moral, vigilant and patriotic all at the same time.
What do you think?
