I am a firearm enthusiast. I was raised around all kinds of firearms my entire life. I was not unfamiliar with them and they were not treated like a dirty secret in my home. They were always treated like any other adult object; such as alcohol or smoking and driving, but with even more respect.
It was made very clear to my siblings and I, that firearms are tools to be used in a very specific way and with great care and only after being taught the proper way to use them responsibly. Because of that up bringing I hold firearms to this day in that regard and respect.
The way I was taught to regard firearms has given me a clear understanding that the true danger lies not with the tool but with the user, and that that goes with anything. I am an advocate for the cause of freedom of the individual in all regards.
I am a strict Constitutionalist. This means I believe the rights and responsibility lie with the individual. That the government is there not to dictate what is allowed; but to assure that there is recourse for an individual against another who has violated their rights.
The morality and law begins with the self and proliferates outward from there. You are responsible for your own actions and the actions that you force upon others. The only way to truly be free is to value your freedom so much that you value others freedoms.
The Second Amendment or the right to keep and bear arms is a physical representation of the freedom of a nation. To be told that you cannot and are not allowed to protect yourself, your family or your property by another, in a way you feel is most effective clearly is proof you are not free.
Government by the people, for the people, a Republic based on the laws and rights of the individual first encompassing personal property rights as well.
I could go on about this for hours but it is nothing that has not been said a hundred times before.
If you read this thank you. If you did not and are simply visiting EBGC thank you for that.
